Noah’s Baptism

This is my Noah!

It took us almost one year to finally set a date for my darling son’s baptism. On Sunday 15th Noah Matthew was baptised and now I can finally breathe better. I’m a happy mom! Of course I had to make his cake, but I have to tell you that I wasn’t very happy with the end result. I thought that it ended up looking more like a combination of a wedding cake and a little girl’s baptism cake. It is blue though…. Well, that’s what happens when I don’t start with a design in my head. At least he had a cake right? Here it is. You decide what it looks like, close your eyes…open them.

The bottom tier cake was a delicious tropical cake with walnuts, pinneaple and coconut and my husband’s request, marble cake (chocolate and vanilla). The top tier was orange cake. We filled both cakes with appricot buttercream. Although my preferred way of working is fondant, I decided to cover the cake with buttercream frosting.
We made the crosses with chocolate and outlined with buttercream. I used real flowers on this cake because I was running out of time. I had only a couple of hours of sleep and I had no energy to make real flowers.
We also made cookies to give them as thank you gifts to our family and dear friends. The crosses are also made with chocolate.
