All decorations are made out of chocolate (except the ribbon of course).

This cake just makes me smile.

I loved the topper. It is a embossed cross and christening baby booties. This top tier was chocolate butter cake with buttercream filling. Three looped crosses decorate the cake.

The bottom tier was Tropical Cake, buttercream and raspberry filling, and it is covered in light blue colored stripes.

Cute uh? The baptism was very nice and after the service we headed to the reception where they had lots of good Mexican food.

And this is how they were packaged. We included six assorted cookies in each bag and a small flower and bird with the tie.

I hope the recipients of these cookies enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed the smell of fresh baked cookies in my home. My favorites?

In the meantime, I want to show and share with you a special celebration cake. My Lillie turned 4 years on the 4th of July! She is growing so fast and that makes me so sad, but I’m so happy to see  her grow up, learn new things and share with her new discoveries. I’m going to cry….

Any way, here are pictures of the cake, cupcakes and some of our wonderful friends that attended the party.

Here’s the Cake/Cupcake display!

This year, Lillie wanted to have Strawberry Shortcake on her cake. I decided to go with a small cake surrounded by vines and a couple of bid colorful flowers. The topper is a toy because I wanted her to keep it. The fondant covered cake is Chocolate (as requested by the Princess) and filled with vanilla buttercream.

 For the rest of the kids, I prepared cupcakes. I love the idea of not having to cut and slice. Each kid had his/her cupcake when we cut Lillie’s cake (No mess, Yeah!). Do you see the cookies? I forgot to take a closeup of them and this is all I manage to get a picture of.

 This time, I tinted the cookie dough in pink and green colors to match the theme. They looked amazing! I also decorated them with royal icing strawberries, number “4″, Strawberry Shortcake hats and “Happy Birthday” messages.

Thank you to all of our dear friends that shared this time with us. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun.

I was in charge of the cakes and I was more than happy to do it. We had a few birthdays to celebrate. Jo Anne Doehrmann was having a birthday and all of her kids wanted to make it special for her. So, I decided to make cupcakes and display them in a three tier cake stand. Here’s Jo Anne (wonderful person and mother to he children) and her appetizer and dessert display.

My daughter Lillie decided that the cupcakes’ flavors should be Strawberry and Chocolate with Chocolate Ganache filling.

 Because Jo Anne was a music teacher it was only appropriate to have a musical touchto the desserts. I made fondant circles and added a musical note drawn with royal icing. Here is the cupcakes arranged in the stand. All around the cake stand I placed sugar cookies made featuring musical note, clef notes and guitars.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate Jan’s Birthday (Matt’s mom) and my lovely Lillie s birthday also (on July 4th). For both of them I created this cake. The flavor is Spice Cake topped with buttercream icing.

Lillie wanted crown candles and princess colors (pink mostly). For Jan, I wrapped the cake with a shoe decorated ribbon. I also made dresses and shoe cookies for  her.

The Doehrmann Reunion was again and as always a lot of fun and it was nice to visit with all family members coming from various cities. Jan Doehrmann did a wonderful job preparing all the food and appetizers that everyone enjoyed. The kids rode horses, played with the dogs and enjoyed an awsome water slide.

Here we have a cake that features The Maxwell Car or The Dream Car. Inside the cake we have a delicious Almond cake with Raspberry  and buttercream filling. We displayed two different view of the car (in chocolate), one had the top up while the other one is down. There are a couple of chocolate trees and a sweet banner that says “Go East Young Man”, since he is heading to St. Josephs Church on the East side.

The following cake was designed with his 40 years of service in mind. A chalice (chocolate), a bible (rice cereal), and a beautiful rosary (fondant – made by my mom) are the main decorations on this cake. This is a Red Velvet with Cream Cheese filling and covered in fondant.

The following cake’s design is a golf course as Ft. Hurley enjoys playing the sport. The Lemon Cake with buttercream and raspberry filling is covered in fondant. There is a sand area made with brown sugar, a fondant lake and colorful flowers around the cake. 

Last but not least, we have a cake designed for Father Ken who was celebrating his 40th birthday. This is a white cake that has buttercream filling and we covered in fondant.

His is fond of baking so I thought that a slice of cake was appropriate. We have cookies decorated as presents and some displaying a “Happy Birthday” message.

Isn’t he adorable? Inside this cake we have Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting and it is covered with Buttercream frosting.

Pluto was made out of chocolate and so as the other decorations such as the doggie bones, the water bowl and the food bowl. I Love it and so did Josh, the birthday boy.

This is a White Buttercake with buttercream and raspberry fillings. The diploma is made out of fondant and the graduation hat is chocolate.

Here’s Thomas the Train!

Thomas’ face is made out of chocolate and the whole engine is White Butter cake. It is all covered and decorated with buttercream.

One wagon was White Butter cake and the other one is Chocolate Butter cake.

And here are the sugar (vanilla) cookies we made for the party. There were 48 of them! The boy was turning 3 years old, so a chocolate  number 3 was made separately and ‘glued’ on the cookies. The numbers had a glow to them as they were brushed with luster dust for an extra touch.

I hope you enjoyed this cake. Like I said before, I enjoy making trains!

One of my best friends and Godmother of my Lillie had her son, Abel baptised last Saturday. I had the honor of making the cake for this celebration. The top and bottom tiers of the cake are tropical white cake with pineapple, toasted walnuts and coconut. The filling is buttercream and I also added a thin layer of apricot preserves to enhance the flavor. The middle tier is an orange cake with fresh orange zest and our classic buttercream filling.  Here’s the cake.

You can’t see it, but I added some chocolate crosses around the top tier. I bought the little baby (Precious Moments).

We also made him some  Thank You favors. Delicious chocolate covered Oreos with a monogram.

If you see closely, you might notice that the ribbon has the baby’s name and date of the baptism. I loved that idea!
