Dr. Seuss Cookies
First of all, Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas/Holidays and a fun New Year celebration. I still have have to get used to writing and typing 2013.
The first One Sweet Treat of 2013 will be…
The famous Dr. Seuss.
No. I will not even attempt to make a rhyme. My 6 year old daughter is much better at this than me. I’m ashamed to say that even my 4 year old son can rhyme! Sad uh?
Just because I don’t know how to rhyme doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy Dr. Seuss books. What’s not to love about Dr. Seuss. The stories, the rhymes, the characters. The colorful pictures and the artistic sketchy and very particular lines are all simply wonderful cookie inspiration for a cookies like me.
Well, Dr. Seuss is perfect for any children events. In this case, the following cookies were designed for a baby shower.
First we have Thing1 & Thing2. I loved the side by side design.
Next we have another popular drawing (s). We actually have this particular book in the house. It really came in handy when drawing the lines on the fish.
One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish….
I cannot make Dr. Seuss themed cookies without making the only and only Cat in the Hat right? Here we have the mischievous cat and the very distinctive and recognizable red and white hat.
Although the cookies were wrapped individually for cookie favors, I decided to gather all of them and show you a colorful patter of cookies
Just a final look of these Dr. Seuss cookies in a collage.
This is in fact my second set of Dr. Seuss cookies I make. You can see the first set that we (my mom and I) made a few years back. Click here for the Cat in the Hat cookie set from 2011.
What do you think? Good theme to start off the new year uh?
Talk About a Bunch of Animals!
This bunch is a cute one because they were created to be the toppers for baby shower cupcakes.
I always ask customers to see if they have any ideas, designs or patterns in mind so I can figure out what to do with their request. I received this blanket picture with the baby animals.
Here are the cupcakes with the baby animal toppers.
Giraffes, tigers, elephants, monkeys, parrots, oh my!
And of course my daughter Lillie asked me if I was going to make animals girls. So, I added eye lashes to some elephants.
What do you think? My husband liked them a lot and my boy Noah said “Wow” when he saw the first chocolate pieces.
As far as the cupcake flavors, we had chocolate butter cupcakes with chocolate ganache filling and strawberry cupcakes with fresh strawberries inside of them.
Here’s the wonderful comment from my customer.
“You did a wonderful job on the cupcakes! They were SO cute! And a big hit with everyone at the baby shower (even the men). People raved about the edible decorations and the chocolate filling. Thanks so much for all your hard work and talent!”
Big Thanks!!!
Baby Shower Animal Cake
The following creations were only additions to the main Tres Leches cake. Because the Tres Leches cake is such a moist cake, it cannot be easily decorated, so I had to think on how to make it into a cake that the mommy to be would like (more on this type of cake below).
A giraffe, an elephant, a monkey and a lion around the baby blanket, Oh My! I really loved how it turned out!
For the main cake, we prepared a Mexican tradition called Tres Leches Cake. This cake is sooo moist and has a unique delicious flavor that’s hard to resist. On top of the cake we have a pair of baby booties with a little dove on the front. The sex of the baby was unknown, so I was safe to go with a gold color ribbon.
I had the pleasure to work on these creations for a beautiful lady that gave me the opportunity to make her wedding cake a few years ago. I was very happy to share her joy again with this dessert.
Congratulations to you and your family Ana!
