Lego Birthday Treats for Noah – Part 1
For a couple of months last year I did nothing but Lego treats, mainly cakes. Now that the movie is out, Legos are much more popular. By the way, let me tell you that the movie is awesome!!
Last December, my wonderful son Noah turned 5 years old. Although he still loves Dinosaurs very much, this year he decided that he wanted a Lego birthday party… with a twist (the twist will come in Part 2).
Because I know that all the picture editing and details will take me forever to finish, I decided to break this into two posts. This first post will show the Lego cookies I made for him and his friends.
Lego Head. A very important piece.
I made several of them Lego Head cookies with different facial expressions. Although I liked them all, I think that my absolute favorite was the one with the mustache, my mom’s idea.
I made a lot of cookies to hand out as “Thank You” gifts along with their little treat bag. I saved a lot more cookies to arrange a birthday platter for him. The platter included a couple of special cookies to display his Happy Birthday message. My cookie platter usually include that by the way.
I was very satisfied with these cookies. My son loved them and they were a hit at the party.
Happy 5th birthday to my sweet loving boy, Noah.
This is a Mario Bros cake designed to celebrate a birthday.
The cake topper consists of a fondant star brushed with lots of glitter (that you probably cannot see here) and a Super Mario chocolate design.
The next three shots are just closeups of some of the cake details. The cake decorations are both fondant (mostly) and chocolate pieces.
We also created 1-up mushroom sugar cookies and stars to go with the cake. The sugar cookies are covered with Royal Icing. Again, if the eyes are not correct then I have to discard it. Trust me… I made a few mistakes.
I absolutely loved those mushrooms. I don’t own the mushroom cutter, but the round cookie cutter worked out perfectly.
I hope you liked them!
Hello Kitty is one of the favorite characters in my house, so every time I have an opportunity to work on Hello Kitty treats my children get very excited.
This incredibly cute kitty (a Japanese bobtail cat by the way) can be turned into the most adorable treats. When my client send me the colors she would be using for her daughter’s party, I knew exactly how I wanted to decorate the cake.
Here is the very colorful Hello Kitty cake I came up with. The cake is decorated in buttercream and it features a chocolate Hello Kitty on the top.
Here is a closeup of the buttercream decorating technique I used on the cake. I have to be hones, it took forever! I was so very careful that I wouldn’t make a mistakes using the color patterns. Also, every time I put a dab of icing I had to clean the spatula. Very time consuming and lots of paper towels were used.
Here’s the chocolate Hello Kitty. She is surrounded by flowers of all colors.
We also baked and decorated a few Hello Kitty sugar cookies. I also made the the full body Hello Kitty, but didn’t take pictures of them (I was in a hurry). You can see some other Hello Kitty cookies in this post.
The cake included two layers of white butter cake one chocolate with a delicious Oreo buttercream filling. Just a final finished look at the cake. Four fondant decorated flowers for the little girl turning 4 years old.
