The next cake was designed to celebrate my niece’s 3rd birthday, Layla.
Ice Cream Cone sugar cookies.
And Cake Balls of course. I made them look like sundaes also with their icing on top and dripping to the sides. The sprinkles finished the lovely treats.
This is a look of the party table. Amy did a wonderful job setting it up as always.
A final look of the cake.
Happy Birthday pretty girl!!
Hello Kitty – Cake
This is a Hello Kitty two tier cake inspired by the original HK colorful cake here.
Bright, colorful and a bit whimsical, this first birthday cake is covered entirely in my sweet buttercream icing. Can you guess how long it took me to fully decorate this cake? Just take a guess….
Now counting the time spent coloring the buttercream, a bit over three hours!!! This type of decoration requires me to clean the spatula after each stroke… yes… each one!!
I made a few chocolate colorful bows, flowers and HKs and one specially with wings to be place as the focal point of the top tier.
The top tier features a fondant made number 1 to celebrate the very special first birthday. Several fondant balloons covered in shiny dust to make them pretty and bright.
And a final front look at the cake.
As far as cake flavors, the top tier was a marble cake with mocha buttercream. The bottom tier was a strawberry cake with a vanilla beam buttercream filling.
I really really love this cake. I was very happy with the end result and my client was too.
Hello Kitty is one of the favorite characters in my house, so every time I have an opportunity to work on Hello Kitty treats my children get very excited.
This incredibly cute kitty (a Japanese bobtail cat by the way) can be turned into the most adorable treats. When my client send me the colors she would be using for her daughter’s party, I knew exactly how I wanted to decorate the cake.
Here is the very colorful Hello Kitty cake I came up with. The cake is decorated in buttercream and it features a chocolate Hello Kitty on the top.
Here is a closeup of the buttercream decorating technique I used on the cake. I have to be hones, it took forever! I was so very careful that I wouldn’t make a mistakes using the color patterns. Also, every time I put a dab of icing I had to clean the spatula. Very time consuming and lots of paper towels were used.
Here’s the chocolate Hello Kitty. She is surrounded by flowers of all colors.
We also baked and decorated a few Hello Kitty sugar cookies. I also made the the full body Hello Kitty, but didn’t take pictures of them (I was in a hurry). You can see some other Hello Kitty cookies in this post.
The cake included two layers of white butter cake one chocolate with a delicious Oreo buttercream filling. Just a final finished look at the cake. Four fondant decorated flowers for the little girl turning 4 years old.
