Holiday Extravaganza at St. Francis of Assisi

Posted on November 16th, 2010 in Cakes, Cookies, Other Sweet Treats

We had the opportunity of participating at the Holiday Extravaganza Show this past Sunday at St. Francis of Assisi church, our church. We baked and baked and when we finished baking, we decorated like mad women.

Some of the treats we created were  Sugar Cookies (Christmas), Cake, Cake Balls and Assorted Cookies. Here’s what we offered at the Show, but first here’s a picture of the table we set out.

Our Cake/Treats Table

Winter gloves & boots

Snowmen

Green & blue snowflakes

Raindeer & Misletoes

Decorated Christmas Trees

Christmas Presents

Christmas People

Christmas Houses

Cake Balls

Cookie Sandwiches

Cookie Tray – Small cookies

Cookie Tray – Large cookies

Wehad three Styrofoam cakes for people to see our work and we also prepared a small Tres Leches cake for people to try out. Dulce de Leche buttercream was offered with each slice of cake.

What do you think? It was a lot of work, especially because the day before we had to be at another show at Prairie Life Fitness. It wasn’t exhausting being there, but preparing all the treats was a lot of work. We enjoy what we do and I especially love to hear people that they enjoy the look and taste of our cookies and treats.

I hope you enjoyed looking and reading this post.

Baby Shower Animal Cake

Posted on October 27th, 2010 in Cakes

The following creations were only additions to the main Tres Leches cake.  Because the Tres Leches cake is such a moist cake, it cannot be easily decorated, so I had to think on how to make it into a cake that the mommy to be would like (more on this type of cake below).

A giraffe, an elephant, a monkey and a lion around the baby blanket, Oh My! I really loved how it turned out!

For the main cake, we prepared a Mexican tradition called Tres Leches Cake. This cake is sooo moist and has a unique delicious flavor that’s hard to resist. On top of the cake we have a pair of baby booties with a little dove on the front. The sex of the baby was unknown, so I was safe to go with a gold color ribbon.

I had the pleasure to work on these creations for a beautiful lady that gave me the opportunity to make her wedding cake a few years ago.  I was very happy to share her joy again with this dessert.

Congratulations to you and your family Ana!

Curious Joe’s (George) Cake

Posted on October 27th, 2010 in Cakes, Cupcakes

I met this sweet boy who is completely in love with the famous and lovable Curious George. The picture of Curious George shows him flying away with a thousand (maybe just a few less than 1000) balloons out of the city (therefore the chocolate buildings). It is a picture that comes from Joe’s favorite Curious George books and he happens to own a blanket with that same image.

Inside the cake we have two layers of chocolate cake and one white with chocolate buttercream.

We also made Tres Leches cupcakes for them with an adorable face of Curious George. The cupcakes are topped with Dulce de Leche buttercream frosting.

Sweet Joe had a big smile on his face when he came with mom to pick up the cake and cupcakes.

Here’s what Kelly (Joe’s mom) sent me later that day about the cakes, “Everyone is very impressed with your cake design and tastes and just overall yummyness!

Thank You Kelly!!!
